Kidneys are one of the most important organs in our body. So it’s important to keep your kidneys in always be in top condition.

Kidneys act as a “filter” of the blood and send it out through the bladder. Without kidneys, your health might be at risk. So here are some tips for you to take better care of the kidney:

  • Taking medications

NSAIDs are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and naproxen. If you consume the medication too much or too often, it can damage the kidneys.

Long-term use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) to treat ulcers or GERD tends to increase the risk of developing chronic kidney disease. Make sure you only take it if your doctor says you need it.

  • Antibiotics

Medicines that help fight these bacteria can damage the kidneys if you take them too often. These health problems can occur even when you are in perfect health. Of course, these health issues can be more serious if you are already suffering from kidney-related illnesses.

Some types of antibiotics such as penicillin, sulfonamide, and cephalosporin are among the types of antibiotics that tend to cause problems.

  • Herbal Supplements

Some herbal supplements are unsafe, and there are even herbal products that can be detrimental to your kidney function. Supplements like these can be dangerous to eat if you have kidney problems.

This is because it can make your health worse or affect the function of the medications you take.

  • Nutrition

Your kidneys will process every food and drink that you take/consume, including the bad elements like high fat, salt and sugar. In the long run, this unhealthy diet will definitely lead to high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes.

Indirectly it increases the risk of developing other health problems that “burden” your kidney function. So to keep your kidneys healthy, eat more vegetables, fruits and whole grains and reduce processed foods intake.

  • Salt

These minerals give different effects on each individual. For some individuals, it will increase the amount of protein in their urine.

Of course, these conditions can harm the kidneys or cause your kidney problems to become chronic. Excessive salt intake will also increase the risk of hypertension, common kidney disease and kidney stones. This condition can be painful and can cause kidney damage if left untreated.

  • Water

Water can help to transport essential nutrients to the kidneys and eliminate waste to the bladder in the form of urine. Inadequate intake of water, small kidney function in the kidneys can stop and risk infection and stones.

Facing dehydration can also damage the kidneys, especially if this condition occurs frequently.

  • Exercise

Like a balanced and healthy diet, exercise can also help prevent health problems such as diabetes and heart disease that can lead to kidney damage. But be careful, too much exercising can risk damaging your kidneys if it’s not ready. Start exercise slowly, like 30 to 60 minutes five times a week.

Do not burden or force yourself to engage in high-intensity physical activity. Make sure you seek medical advice and consultation before exercising if you have any health problems.

  • Daily habits

Unhealthy behaviors such as excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages can affect kidney function and over the long term may cause this organ damage. While smoking habits tend to increase the risk of kidney cancer and damage blood vessels.

This will cause the blood flow to slow and thus impair kidney function. So the best way is to reduce these unhealthy habits or even better to stop them.

  • Health care

The two health conditions that can affect the kidneys are diabetes and high blood pressure. A consistent diet and regular exercise can help control both of these health problems. Remember, the kidneys are an important organ in your body.
