The body needs a rich source of nutrients for optimal health. High nutrition is essential for improving the immune system that can protect against disease.

These nutrients include vitamins, minerals, fats, carbohydrates, proteins, and phytonutrients. According to NYU Langone Health Nutritionist Samanta Heller, color-based vegetables or fruits offer a specific source of nutrition. This will also facilitate the intake of nutritious foods while providing full nutrition.

All you need to do is make sure to take colorful food every day as a daily health routine.

Here is a list of some of the color foods that can boost your immune system as quoted by CNN Health.

1. Red, orange and yellow.

Red, orange, and yellow foods have high vitamin C content which improves the immune system.

“Vitamin C helps improve the immune system in addition to many antioxidants and phytonutrients.”

Citrus fruits and tomatoes are among the main sources of vitamin C. In addition to that option, you can also choose other foods such as strawberries, kiwi and cabbage.

2. Green vegetables

Did you know that green vegetables are rich in vitamin D? It also improves the immune system and protects against disease attacks.

These greens include broccoli, cabbage, and mustard. In addition to Vitamin D, it also contains vitamins C, E, and K, carotenoids, folate, and minerals.

In addition, dried apricots contain 4.7 grams of fiber, while fresh apricots contain only 1.6 grams of fiber. Dried fruits are also rich in folate B vitamins but remember, sugar content in dried fruits is also dominant.

“Take 2 or more sources of fiber in each meal. Fiber comes from plants like spinach, apples, wheat, tofu, beans, and legumes, ”says Heller.
